Wilde Watercolour began with a simple but deeply held belief: creativity is not a talent reserved for the few. It is something we all carry within us.

Founder Anneri de Wilde has spent her life surrounded by South Africa's extraordinary wildlife. As a wildlife artist, she has always believed that art and conservation are closely connected. When people truly see an animal—its beauty, its character, its vulnerability—they begin to care about its future.

During the reopening after COVID, Anneri began introducing people to simple, guided painting experiences. Time and again, people who insisted they "weren't creative" discovered something unexpected. Given the opportunity, they found themselves painting, relaxing, and enjoying the process far more than they thought possible.

Those moments became the foundation of Wilde Watercolour.

What started as a small pilot project has grown into a business built around a simple idea: creative experiences are not a luxury. They are an opportunity to slow down, reconnect with ourselves, and rediscover a part of who we are.

A Family Built on Different Strengths

Gwen Chudleigh de Wilde grew up surrounded by art and nature. Home-schooled by Anneri, lessons rarely stayed inside four walls. They happened in gardens, on walks, and occasionally high in the branches of a tree. Creativity, curiosity, and a love of the natural world were never separate subjects—they were simply part of everyday life.

While Anneri's passion lies in creating meaningful artistic experiences and sharing South Africa's wildlife with others, Gwen is driven by the systems that bring those ideas to life. She designs the processes that keep Wilde Watercolour running—from production planning and quality control to the website you're reading today.

Together, they combine creativity with structure, vision with organisation, and imagination with practical problem-solving. It's this balance that allows Wilde Watercolour to continue growing while remaining true to its purpose.
